Ausflug in den Zoo Hannover

As our class voted to spend the “Wandertag” in the Zoo of Hannover, we also decided to take a course about predators there. When we arrived in Hannover after a one hour train ride, we were able to explore the zoo in small groups for some time before starting the course.
While we were doing that, some groups already saw some predators like lions or leopards.
These two animals are just the typical animals you think of when you hear the word predator.
In the course about that topic, we learned that there is a big variety of predators.
Of course, lions and others are part of that group, but we also learned about other predators that don’t even look dangerous to us.
An example for that are red pandas or meerkats.
Of course, they don’t all hunt for big animals like zebras as the bigger predators do, but they are also considered part of that group.
The prey of meerkats are for example scorpions. Also, red pandas are herbivores but also eat little animals if they get the chance. After the course ended, we got to spend the rest of our time to see some more animals, go to the petting zoo or watch a seal show. Spending time with the class outside of school in the train and at the zoo was a cool experience and we were happy to go on that trip.
